Local burglary, armed robbery convict escapes MDOC

 MDOC says 37-year-old Eugene Robinson fled the George County Regional Correctional Facility about 7 p.m. after tying up an officer and stealing the officer’s champagne 2000 GMC Sonoma truck with Greene County license plate GR7 315.

Authorities are searching for an inmate who escaped from a Mississippi Department of Corrections facility in Lucedale on Saturday.

MDOC says 37-year-old Eugene Robinson fled the George County Regional Correctional Facility about 7 p.m. after tying up an officer and stealing the officer’s champagne 2000 GMC Sonoma truck with Greene County license plate GR7 315.

Robinson is currently serving a sentence totaling 30 years for armed robbery in Choctaw County and burglary in Oktibbeha County.

He has been in prison since 2003.

MDOC says he is 6-foot, 1-inch tall and weighs 230 pounds. He has multiple tattoos, including on his arms, chest, and back.

Crime Stoppers is offering up to $2,500 for any information regarding the incident.
