Parks employees put on unpaid administrative leave

The Starkville Board of Aldermen placed the Director of Parks and Recreation Herman Peters and administrative assistant Deon Evans on unpaid administrative leave during its meeting on Tuesday.

The board went into executive session twice to discuss the job performance of both Peters and Evans.

Once at the beginning of the meeting and a second time nearing the end.

"We have some irregularities that we are researching," Mayor Lynn Spruill told the Starkville Daily News.

Director of Sports and Recreation Gerry Logan was appointed to serve as interim director until the board can decide what the next steps in the process will be.

The board will not be advertising for the director position.

"It would be premature to do otherwise," Spruill said.
