Police in Lowndes County are still searching for an inmate who escaped from the Lowndes County Adult Detention Facility on Saturday night.

Columbus native Delvin Moore, 29, was arrested by the Columbus Police Department and charged with armed robbery on Friday after an incident at the Sprint Mart at the intersection of Highway 69 and Yorkville Road in Columbus.

Moore escaped the facility at about 8:30 p.m. Saturday after manipulating the lock on his holding cell.

Lowndes County Sheriff's Office Chief Deputy Marc Miley told the SDN investigators are working in conjunction with numerous agencies, including the U.S. Marshals Service.

"We're still following up leads, but feeling confident on this," Miley said. "There is a $4,000 cash reward for the arrest or information."

Moore is described as being 5-foot, 7-inches in height and weighing 150 pounds. He also has previous convictions on robbery and auto burglary charges.

Miley said it is possible Moore could have altered his appearance.
