A celebrity wait night was held Tuesday, July 11 at Harveys to benefit the Oktibbeha County Humane Society, and a check of $7,348 was presented to OCHS board members on Friday.
During the celebrity wait night, all tips earned by waiters and all proceeds from the event’s silent auction were added up to be donated to the animal shelter.
Local celebrities like Starkville Mayor Lynn Spruill and former Columbus Mayor Jeffrey Rupp served customers during the event.
OCHS Outreach Coordinator Sarah Buckleitner said the funds will go toward keeping the animals at the shelter healthy and cared for.
“We couldn’t do what we do without community support,” Buckleitner said. “Funds like these go to helping us continue to care for animals, so these funds will go to general animal care.”
